Thanks to pkill we have the possibility of stopping a service using its name and not its PID. To force the closing of a process we can add the -KILL parameter using the following syntax: killall -KILL (Process) 2. The process will be closed immediately so we must be careful when killing a process since we can lose the information we are working on so far. To use this command we will use the following syntax: killall (Process) For example, if we want to kill the process called iTunes we will enter the following: killall iTunes This command is used to kill a certain process using its name in macOS Sierra. Today Solvetic brings two alternatives to the kill command to stop a process in macOS Sierra and thus take action on it. Remember that to see the PID of a process we must access the Activity Monitor and there in the CPU tab we have the list of processes and their respective PID. When a process affects the stability of the program or the equipment, we commonly use the kill command to "kill" that process and recover the stability of the system and for this we use the PID or process identifier. There are situations in which these processes present some type of failure and we notice it by the following symptoms. When we start an application or program in macOS Sierra automatically starts a process associated with that application and this process allows us to work properly with the application or program.
